Yogurt Cream and Berries

Take your yogurt to the next level by adding in cream, brown sugar and topping with fresh berries and granola.  Perfect for your brunch or as a dessert.

Who else gets excited when berries are in season and showing up in grocery stores for a great price? I LOVE berries of all sorts. Do you grow berries in your garden?  We have raspberries and I’m learning how to care for them.  We haven’t really gotten a huge harvest year but I am hoping soon. Send me your tips on how to grow them in abundance!

We used to have strawberries but the darn birds would get to them before we could even pick them.  So I tore them out and grew carrots in their spot instead.  I would like to try to grow them again.  Maybe in an area where they could hang and I’ll have to figure out a way to cover them so the birds will leave them alone.  So once again, send me your tips if you are a wizard at growing berries.  Tell me your secrets and I’ll tell you mine…

One thing I will share with you (because it shouldn’t be a secret at all), is the recipe for these yogurt cream and berries.  It is a simple yet elegant dish that is so extremely delicious.  The first time I had it was a few years ago. I had just brought my baby home from the hospital and my friend Mandy brought our family breakfast the next morning.  She brought along this yogurt and berry dish and now we have it for brunch several times throughout the year.  It is so good. Top with your favorite fruit and granola and your tastebuds will love you.

Don’t forget to pin the recipe for later.

Instructions
  1. Pour yogurt into a bow and add cream. With a whisk carefully stir until combines. It should be nice and thick.
  2. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the top of the yogurt mixture. DO NOT STIR THE MIXTURE. Cover the bowl with foil or plastic wrap and tightly seal the edges. Place in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours (or if you don't have time, you can totally skip this step and just mix it all). Once you pull it out of the fridge it will not look too pretty, don't worry.
  3. Whisk mixture until smooth and spoon over berries. Repeat layers and top with berries and granola.
  4. Enjoy!
