Creamy Hot Chocolate

Are you a fan of hot chocolate?  I just might be the biggest fan.  I drink hot chocolate all of the time, even in the summer I make my hubby stop and get me hot chocolate on summer nights when he’s getting a Slurpee.

I am especially the biggest fan of this recipe and make it many times during the month of December. Ok, I might not be the biggest fan of it, my sister Kamie is probably the biggest.  She could drink a whole pot of it herself if we let her.

I love having a nice hot cup of it when it’s cold outside, the house is clean and a candle is burning. There is something magical about having a hot cup of cocoa while sitting in front of the glowing Christmas tree lights.

On Christmas morning we have a breakfast with my sisters and parents and make a great big pot of this hot chocolate and drink it until our tummies are sick.  This recipe says to make it in the crockpot, which I do often, but I have also made is several times in a large pot on the stovetop.  Especially if I need to double or triple the recipe.

One of our favorite things is to have a hot chocolate bar where you can customize your own cup.  I usually get different flavors of creamer to add, there are so many different kinds out there like peppermint, coconut, hazelnut, girl scout cookie, pumpkin and more.  Make sure you have some marshmallows and whipping cream as well.

It really is fun to add different flavors and toppings to make each cup different.  I added 1/2 teaspoon of salt to cut the sweetness just a little bit, this is optional.  You could also use milk chocolate chips if you have a sweet tooth.  Hope you enjoy this recipe!
